Our New Caledonia hotel guide aims to help you find the right accommodation for your holidays by offering for free the largest collection of independently taken photographs of New Caledonia hotels from all around the country. We have personally visited all hotels in Noumea, Isle of Pines and the Loyalty Islands and have selected what we consider the best New Caledonia hotels in all price categories from boutique island resorts to affordable pensions and tribal huts. These are presented in both a hotels directory as well as in a handy location map (see below) so you know exactly where the property is situated. All hotel pages offer detailed independent reviews, pictures of all individual room categories, retail prices, specials and an instant booking facility. To view New Caledonia hotel locations and individual property pictures, please select a region in the map below - note the majority of holiday resorts are found in the picturesque seaside capital town of Noumea on the main island of Grand Terre and around Isle of Pines with a scattering of locally owned accommodation in the Loyalty Islands. ![]() Our Hotel Guide New Caledonia is a French Territory lying between Fiji and Australia with one large island (Grand Terre is the largest of the South Pacific nation islands), and four small islands. The capital Noumea is a modern seaside town set on a sunny peninsula with several lovely beach resort areas, excellent restaurants, boutique shops, casinos and a bustling marina offering day cruises to uninhabited islands, snorkelling trips to the outer reef and big game fishing charters. Noumea is the main centre of tourism in New Caledonia with over a dozen large hotels and many tourists stay here for their entire holiday. The main island of Grand Terre, by contrast, has few resorts and little immediate tourist appeal apart from its wild scenery and large open spaces. The second most visited island is the beautiful Isle of Pines, a 30-minute flight south of Noumea. The Isle of Pines has stunning white sand beaches, a distinct laid back holiday atmosphere and six accommodation from boutique resorts to guesthouses. The Loyalty Islands comprise of the three large raised limestone islands that lie 100 kilometres off the east coast of Grand Terre. Lifou is the main island with at least three daily flights from Noumea and a variety of accommodtion options, whilst Mare and Ouvea have just one small resort each. The Loyalty Islands have stunning white sand beaches, interesting coastal sights and a traditional village culture.
